Estate terms

You are buying the right to keep and publish one public address on the Named Atlas map while you remain its keeper. That address can be a galaxy, a sector, a solar system, or a planet.

A kept estate lets you set the public name, a short transmission, colours and look, an optional portrait, and a destination link. Visitors can find it on the map, open its public page, sign the guestbook, and follow the link off the map. First claims of a system, sector, or galaxy also include the cheapest open child on the rim as a foothold, when one is still free.

That is a licence to use the address on this service. It is not a sale of land, a building, a company share, or anything physical.

An estate is not an NFT, cryptocurrency, token, or anything settled on a blockchain. It is not a security or an investment product. Nobody is promising that the address will rise in value, attract visitors, or make you money.

The listed price is what the observatory last collected for that address, not a valuation and not a promise of profit. If someone later takes the estate, they pay Named Atlas — not you.

Listed values are in pounds sterling (GBP). A planet starts at £5, a solar system at £60, a sector at £420, and a galaxy at £2,800. Addresses closer to the galactic core cost more than addresses on the rim. Nothing lists below £5.

You can view and pay in pounds, US dollars, or euros. USD and EUR amounts use a published observatory rate against the pound — not a live market feed. We update that table infrequently. The rate in force when you start checkout is the rate Stripe charges. A later take, upgrade credit, or exclusivity fee is still calculated in pounds first.

A first claim is charged at the listed price, minus any upgrade credit from addresses you already keep underneath. Checkout never drops below 20% of the listed price. The map still shows the full listed value.

Taking a kept estate costs at least 25% more than the current listed value. You choose the new listing, at or above that floor. That payment becomes the new listed value.

You can add one to six months of exclusivity on a first claim or a take. The extra fee is the 25% take premium spread across six months, at least £1 a month. Six months of lock costs the same extra as one take. Named Atlas keeps that fee.

The previous keeper is not paid. There is no split, no resale payout, and no buyout.

If you buy at the listed price with no exclusivity, the estate is at risk as soon as it is written. Anyone else can take it immediately by paying Named Atlas at least 25% more.

If you pay for exclusivity, nobody can take the estate until that window ends. After the date shown on the estate, it is at risk again. Restyling your own estate does not buy or extend exclusivity. A foothold granted with a parent claim stays at risk and never receives a lock.

Once any exclusivity window has ended, another signed-in explorer can take the address by paying Named Atlas the take price. You lose the right to publish and manage that address. You are not paid and you are not refunded.

The guestbook, visit history, and traffic already on the address stay with it. A later keeper can compare their impressions, clicks, and CTR to that historic baseline. The name, portrait, look, destination, and featured child become the new keeper’s. First-claim footholds and upgrade credits do not apply to a take. The new keeper can buy their own exclusivity window.

On a first claim or a take you can write the estate to another email after you pay. You still pay the listed price, take floor, and any exclusivity. The keep, and any foothold granted with a first claim, go to that email. A restyle of an estate you already keep cannot be gifted from the claim desk.

The recipient can sign in with that email to keep and restyle the address. If they do not have an explorer yet, one is created for that address. A later take still pays Named Atlas, not them, and not you. Gifting is not a refund and not a payout to the previous keeper.

The purchase is still final once the estate is written. Changing the recipient later is a separate gift, not a refund of the card.

A foothold is a free rim child granted with the first claim of a parent scale, when one is still open. It is a real keep, but it is always at risk. It does not include exclusivity.

If you already keep the estate, you can restyle it without paying again: name, transmission, look, destination, and campaign tags. A restyle does not change the listed value and does not extend exclusivity.

Estate purchases are not refundable. Once Named Atlas has written the estate after a successful payment, the charge is final. That includes first claims, takes, and any exclusivity you added.

You will not get your money back if you change your mind, if the estate does not get the attention you hoped for, if you dislike the look once it is live, if your exclusivity window ends, or if someone later takes the address. A later take is not a refund and not a payout.

This is digital and starts as soon as the atlas writes the estate. By paying, you ask us to start immediately. After that you cannot cancel for a refund, including any usual cooling-off period that applies to some online shopping.

A payment that never creates an estate is different. If you abandon checkout, nothing is written and you do not own the address. If the listing changes while your card is still being taken — for example someone else claimed it first — we cancel that charge and refund it, because you did not receive the estate. That is an unfinished payment, not a refund of a completed purchase.

Everything you publish on an estate is public. Do not put secrets, passwords, or anything you would not put on a billboard.

Destination and portrait links must use https and a public hostname. Shorteners and anonymous file hosts are blocked. Spam, illegal imagery, and other abusive content can be removed, and the estate can be taken down. Reporting abuse does not require you to upload a copy of the file.

You must sign in before you claim, take, restyle an estate, or sign a guestbook. The keep and the guestbook line stay with that signed-in identity. Browsing and the guided tour stay open without an account.

You are responsible for the content you publish and for the destination you point people to.

You keep the address while you remain its keeper and while Named Atlas is running. If the service ends, the licence ends with it. If someone takes the estate, your licence for that address ends then.

We can change prices, add or remove features, or close the map. A listed value is not a promise that the service will run forever.
